Background and Early Career
Nikola Tesla was born on July 10, 1856, in Smiljan, the Austrian Empire (now Croatia). His interest in the world of electronics began at a young age, as he often observed his mother, Djuka Mandic, who was fond of experimenting with household appliances in her spare time.
Although his father was a Serbian Orthodox priest and writer who wanted him to pursue priesthood, Tesla's passion leaned more towards science.
After completing his education at various institutions in Europe, Tesla eventually decided to immigrate to the United States at the age of 28. There, he worked with Thomas Edison, but their relationship was short-lived due to differences in personalities and viewpoints.
Challenges and Bankruptcy
Despite having many remarkable innovations and contributions, Tesla's life was filled with challenges. He faced bankruptcy in 1917 and had to sell one of his creations, the Wardenclyffe Tower, to pay off his debts.
All of Tesla's efforts to help humanity and advance science seemed futile when he had to experience the bitterness of life.
Sadness in the Final Years
In his later years, Tesla experienced deep loneliness. He even wrote a heart-wrenching letter to his mother, reflecting his disappointment in the way he was treated and humiliated by society:
"My dear mother, I feel sad and dreary when I think of you. I don't know how, but I feel that you are not well. I wish I could be beside you now mother, to bring you a glass of water. All these years that I had spent in the service of mankind brought me nothing but insults and humiliation."
Despite being known as one of the greatest scientists in history, Nikola Tesla's life ended tragically and filled with sorrow. His dedication and innovations in the field of science and technology were not always appreciated well by society and the world at that time.
Tesla's life story serves as a reminder of the difficulties and suffering that visionaries and innovators may face, even though they are ultimately remembered as influential figures in history.
